I miss quality edgy hard rock - c'mon you know the kind. Heavy riffs, strong vocals that are just a bit out of the norm, and a tinge of punk: The kind of riff heavy crunch that made early Danzig, Strung Out, and The Offspring a bunch o' money and respect. It's been awhile but the upcoming ASG offering, Feeling Good is Good Enough, definitely fills the void.

This is my first experience with ASG so I don't have much to compare as far as their albums go, but they seem maybe a bit out of place on the Volcom roster- so props to Volcom for diversity.

Feeling Good is Good Enough is a completely confident album, which I believe is the key to why it carries itself so incredibly well. The band sort of swaggers their riffs with a lot of back and forth, anthem style songs. You can practically hear the crowd echoing the band on songs like "Matadors of the Heart" and the dark "Thirsting for More" (which I swear sounds like some goth kids singing a Duran Duran song). "Act Like You Know," "Killers For Hire," and "John Wayne" keep the heaviness factor at the forefront of the album but they will hold a lot of appeal for the punk crowd as well due mainly to the vocal delivery. "Cracks in the Sky" takes the album out with a stoner rock vibe full of dirty guitars, it sort of brides the gap between mid-career Green Day and bands like Generous Maria and Saint Vitus. On the surface the song is good but when you start mulling over everything that is incorporated into it, it gets even sweeter.

This is a great album from start to finish. I'm pleased this landed on my desk because I'd have probably passed up these guys if it hadn't and they have quickly become one of my favorite bands. The band mixes it up inside the songs just enough that I believe this will appeal to a broad audience. If you like the new Stretch Armstrong, any of the above mentioned bands, Project 86, or anything along those lines there is a good chance you will like at least part of Feeling Good is Good Enough.
