Any four guys can get together and call themselves a band, but it takes a group of talented musicians to impact the listener in significant ways. Athan Asia does just that. Honestly, this is one of the best Christian rock albums I've heard in a long, long time. The band is so blatantly unique, that it is impossible to connect them with any one band, but influences include Faith No More, Dream Theater, and King's X. The songs on Through a Glass Darkly are, for lack of a better word, catchy. After just about two spins of this CD I found myself singing along. The high points of this album are "Spice," a folk/rock ballad that really captures the soul, and "Funk Lein," a groovy funk tune that begs you to sing along. This album is well worth the effort and any costs necessary to obtain a copy.
