If Aimee Mann were a little less morose, she might sound a fair bit like Blake Hazard. Of course, the waves of depression are part of what makes Aimee Mann such an intense experience, so removing that in favor of an increased pop sensibility may not be the best idea.
Hazard has an excellent voice and runs in the same Boston music circles as Juliana Hatfield and Evan Dando, which gives you a fair idea of the musical territory she mines.
Little Airplane is filled with intelligent pop music that could nestle up pretty comfortably with the likes of Lisa Loeb, but never having been a fan of Loeb's, I'm not entirely sure if that's a compliment.
