There is definitely something different about Bloomsday that has caught my ear, but I haven't yet been able to put it all together. Perhaps it's their bass line, which for me is not as strong or as rockin' as I might normally like to hear. It could also be that their sound is more laid back than your typical headbanger or rock group. It's unique enough that I'm hesitant even to attempt to classify it within any genre of music. For this old timer, I have to say that it isn't since I first heard "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane (back before I care to admit) that I have puzzled over the sound of a group to this extent. What I can tell you, is that since the first time I heard The Day The Colors Died, I have enjoyed the album and the group as a unique new auditory stimulation of sound waves to the miracle of God's creative genius-my ear.
I found the songs of this project to be as varied and unique as the name of the band itself. This is certainly a resplendent respite from the plethora of performers who have a tendency to keep the sound and beat consistent throughout a project. I have always felt that my musical listenings were extensive and extremely varied, but Bloomsday brought me to new heights of enjoyment with a sound I love more and more each time I crank up the volume on my headphones. If you're anything like me, then you owe it to yourself to take a listen and decide for yourself. To quote Forrest Gump (with my own little twist) "Life is like a box of chocolates, sometimes you have to take a bite out of each of them until you find something you like."
