When I saw the cover of this cd I was a bit taken aback. It shows a leathery-winged demon clutching a crying baby in front of a satanic altar. One would think then, that Clemency is a satanic band but the very opposite is a true-Clemency is a brutal demon grinding undead beast shining the light into the dark death metal underground. The poor production can't hold back the skill and ferocity these Brazilians unleash on you. The vocals are the deep growling vociferations that take you back to the glory days of death metal-the early 90's. The drumming contains much blasting and double-bass action while the guitarist Luis Carlos concentrates mostly on rhythm technique and lots of riffs but very little if any melodic leads. The songs have titles like Black Winds of Death (my favorite), Cruel Torment of Soul, Innocent Death, Funeral of the Evil Forces and cover topics like abortion, hell and Jesus defeating Satan. The lyrics are rather poorly written because no one in the band speaks english and the lyric sheet is full of misspellings but the meaning of the songs come through clearly and it's easy to see that the band is Christian and not ashamed to let you know it. If you are a fan of brutal death metal bands of the early 90's like Crimson Thorn, Ritual, Embodyment or Cannibal Corpse this is something you need!

After hearing this, you won't be even a little surprised to see a Crimson Thorn shirt in the band photos, as that's the band that they most remind me of. Looow guttural vocals and lots of sporadic blasts coming and going in the midst of fairly…Similar sounding releases
