Close Your Eyes is a side project put together completely by Ro Edwards of Kohllapse. Let me say up front this is not for everyone. Let me further say up front that I love this music. What is it? Well that's hard to pin down. It's definitely got some industrial influences. It's fast, heavy, and very moody. Almost gothic at times. Still it's got a very Black Metal feel to it. Lyrically there is not a lot there, but that's what Ro was going for, the story is told through emotion which the listener gets from the music directly.
The tape is three songs long, and tells the story of broken love. No it's not directly a Christian story it's one that everyone has dealt with at some point or another. Mortal love lost. The first song "Drowning In My Memory" really is full of pain. You can feel it from the music. It's confused and chaotic. Next, "Lead Me/Lost" really kind of smoothes out the sounds, as the song deals with the reality hitting home. The person tries to deal with the savagely destroyed remains of the world they knew. The tape wraps up with "Ignorance/Damage/Scar." The title here really says it all. The song is a more mellow song than the other two, but the tone is just right. It gives you a sense of sorrow for what is gone, but still a realization that the future is still ahead. Ever heard a song where you can almost imagine the guitar shedding tears, well this is one of those songs. It ends with the whispered words "It's time to rain," and the music slowly fades. This symbolism is a really well done, being as rain a lot of times indicates a refreshing.
I like this tape a lot, but being only three songs long it's not something that I listen to every day. It's so moody you really have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to it, but when you are you get so completely lost in the music you wonder if you will ever find your way out.
The production of the tape is above average. Ro told me he pounded this thing out in a matter of days, and kudos to Ro if he did, because it really does sound a lot better than some demos I've heard.
To get a feel of what C.Y.E is like visit the Webpage Ro setup. He even has sound samples of the songs.
The tape is $6.00 us and available from Ro directly at:

when he first notified me about this project he said that he did not make too many of them so I'd E-Mail Ro and see if there are still copies available before I sent the money over.
