Demonic, demonic, demonic! When the Good Lord said "not to speak evil of what is good," He made an exception for old ladies like me. EDL simply must be demonic. How else could a scary band like this come along at a time when this so-called "hard music" is peaking in popularity and bring a message of hope and love? There has got to be a devilish plot behind this band. I mean, I read (and believe) all the Chick Tracts that have been printed, but none are more true than "Angels," which must've been written with EDL in mind. I would not be surprised to find out if this band's manager was named Lou – Lou Cipher! Get it? Lou Cipher (pronounced 'lew siffer'). It's Lucifer! The devil!
Someone please tell me how distorted vocals like those found when this Cookerly character goes ballistic (like the chorus of the title track) are supposed to be holy? Believe it or not, I've been to Ozzfest (picketing in the moshpit, of course. Dang kids broke my signs into a million pieces! I pray for their souls. . . ), and I've heard bands like Coal Chamber and White Zombie. While the devil makes it easy to tell the evil bands from the good ones, bands like EDL, with their sneaky worldly sounds and image, make it harder. In fact, when I hear EDL chant about the roof being on fire, all I can think of is all the swearing that Coal Chamber does in their similar song — "Sway." Doesn't the Bible say something about making an old one stumble?
Now, I don't know if HM is going to print the album cover next to this review, but looking at this gave me the chills! That smoke looks to me just like Hell, which is where I'm afraid too many kids will unfortunately end up if they listen to this trash.
Now, I may be just an old lady, but I have been on the Internet. I noticed one site, that had some EDL propaganda on it, used a technology called "Flash" — just like the DC comic book character who wears a red outfit. We all know that the devil wears a red outfit. What does that tell ya? The people at RadioU and TVU should be ashamed for allowing this band's music to air on the Internet and television. But then again, the devil is also "the prince of the power of the air." I think the only right thing to do is smash your TV sets (if you're ungodly enough to own one in the first place), smash your radio (even though Brother Tilton and Brother Hinn are broadcast on the AM dial, which is God's preferred frequency), and move to the country. After all, the Bible says to "be ye separate," and I'd advise you to separate yourself as far away from EDL as possible.
Other coverage for this album
Dead Zine 2001Reviewed by D_ListerEDL is back with a vengeance! They say so themselves in track 4 'Embers.' CD #4 for the band represents a return to the days of The American Standard with hard hitting heavy guitars and full on hip-hop style vocals. Ted Cookerly's vocals are very MC styled this time, very little harsh screaming like in the old days but then again the singing style they used on Moment of Clarity is pretty well…Similar sounding releases
