FIRST STRIKE is not new to the Christian hard scene, since it was in 1984 that their first LP "Rock Of Offense" (Exit Rec.) came out. The singer's sudden departure prevented FIRST STRIKE from going on tour to promote that first LP. In 1987, the band comes back to us with a new vocalist, David Companaro, clearly superior to the previous one. In the studio, they recorded a four-track demo, "Crank It Up". FIRST STRIKE stays faithful to the style of the first LP: hard FM, but this time a finer, more thoroughbred FM. David Companaro's vocals have manifestly brought a great deal to the band ("Some Kind Of Lover", "Don't Let Me Down"). One track stands out from the others: "Power", a track heavier and more "rockin'" than the rest; otherwise FIRST STRIKE remains a very commercial band, and a very marketable one; they know the ingredients needed to make a good hit...! FIRST STRIKE has the build of a great hard FM band. On the sound side, no criticism: it is very clean work. Semi-pro cover. Hey, a word of advice: CRANK IT UP!!!
