These guys are Crimson Thorn fans! Low, grinding madness is what this is about, and it's worth a listen if your copy of Dissection is getting played out.
"Tears of Blood" starts this 5 song EP out with a growling bang. Sporadic blast beats take you through the majority of the song before finishing with frantic screams of "Now only blood is left!" The vocals are low and slurred, similar to Crimson Thorn, but the un-black scream is used when appropriate, making for a great song. "Stillborn Piety" is next, and the slow, doomy tempo makes for quite a contrast to "Tears. . .". This is a nice song, but in waiting nearly 4:00 before there's a time change there are moments where it drags somewhat.
"Defilement" picks the tempo up again, with what is really a fun death metal song. Brutal still, of course, but something in (I think) the drumming just makes me wanna hug my neighbor. I don't get it either . . . but good song. "Upheld" is, IMHO, the low point of the disc. This is NOT due to the acoustic/singing intro and finish, but the song just doesn't grab me in any way, so I end up paying too much attention to the production weaknesses of the album.
"Night Falls" finishes the listen, and leaning heavily towards the un-black, this track is nothing short of spectacular. Reminds me a lot of Horde's "The Day of Total Armageddon Holocaust". Excellent, every album should end this way.
All in all, Inversion makes a pretty good impression on me here. There are some production weaknesses, but the music's good enough to overlook them. They're not yet in the same park with Crimson Thorn, but this is good grind.

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by MuchThis CDR EP got old with a quickness. Not because it's only 5 tracks, but because I found nothing new here. A death band doesn't always have to be complex or totally original to grab me, but there was nothing here that stood-out. The moist guttural flow from Jairus Pascale was similar to what you find in most gore bands (MORTICIAN, BROKEN HOPE) and were the only thing I gathered enjoyment from. I…
