Now this is an interesting tape. Imagine Survivor, E.L.O., and The Beatles intertwined, with just a touch of early Motown-style keyboarding, and you might have an idea of what we have here musically. Jeremy Morris composes, plays, and sings all of his own songs, handling all instrumental parts with the exception of some of the drumming and percussion duties. The most interesting facet here is the vocals. He recorded using the "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" verse mode as his standard, quite a switch from the obligatory growling of most rock vocalists. What's neat is, this airy vocal style is arrayed over a strong, plodding tempo in some places, and soft keyboards in others - yet never sounding out of place. "Invisible" is an encouraging collection of tunes that invite, encourage, and inspire the listener on to a more intimate walk with the Lord (Who is but implied in some cases), while sharing personal devotions in other instances. An amazing 64-minutes long, "Invisible" has its share of heavier rhythms, but stays mostly in the mainstream vein, spicy guitar parts notwithstanding. My personal favorites are the opener, "I Wanna Be with You", the title track, and the last of the 15 (!) songs: "My Heart Is Broken". While the new Christian or your latest potential-friend-in-the-Lord may not gain much from this undertaking, any secret aficionados of Daniel Amos, The Nation (defunct), or The Swirling Eddies ought to give this a listen.
