This is one of my favorite albums of 2000. I liked their first release, "Orange Rhyming Dictionary", but wasn't totally impressed with it. Some of the songs on that album were really good, while others seemed to lack something. With "Four Cornered Night" Jets to Brazil totally impresses. Overall the album kind of have a mid-tempo feel. Nothing that really rocks too much, and nothing that bores you to death either. Blake's vocals sound the best they have ever sounded, the band is extremely tight, the lyrics are right on, and the songs are put together very nicely. This album is definitely a bit more piano heavy that the previous Jets album, thus lending to an almost John Lennon type sound on quite a few songs, especially on "All Things Good and Nice". This album is layered with musical depth. Most of the songs could easily be put up there with the classics. This album just seems to have this charm that grabs you and brings you in. Whether it's the nicely crafted song structure, the passionate vocals, or the heartfelt lyrics there is something that is bound to pull you in with this release.
