Warm Waters is radio friendly power pop, which is another way of saying this album is full of hooks that will leave the choruses stuck in your brain for a while. "Get Next 2 U," despite its Prince-like title, is an engaging tune that expresses McCafferty's desire to grow closer to God. "Carry Me On" has some Geoff Moore similarities, while "Potter's House" is more of a Don Henley/John Waite combination.
McCafferty also provides some modern worship pieces - "Lord I Love to Sing 2 U," "God's Perfect Love," and "Praise Your Holy Name." Like a lot of worship choruses, I agree with the sentiments expressed, but find that they tend to grow repetitive and mindless upon repeated listens.
"Follow" is a nice little light rock tune that vows allegiance to God regardless of the hardships that we face in life. "4 the Love of God" and "As He Does" are about as good as pop gets, a lot like Mr. Mister or Matthew Sweet. The handiwork of guitarist Dan Strain and bassist Matt Bissonette are particularly evident on these two songs.
"Where I Long 2 B", another extended worship song, could be a Greg X. Volz (Petra) composition.
Warm Waters actually describes the musical style fairly well here - the album is neither soft, adult contemporary rock, nor is it loud, raucous, metal. It is simply eleven songs with pop vocals, and some pretty good musicians singing about God.
