I had heard about this band for some time but never expected much from them. I had the opportunity to get their demo for five dollars, and since I was already spending $140 on the order I said, "why not." So I got it. The first thing I noticed is that the tape didn't even come with a j-card, but rather a folded piece of paper with lyrics. Eventually, I got around to listening to it. The first song starts off with kind of slow intro. As it played I was thinking, " I was right, this isn't all that great." Then all of a sudden, I was blown away. Double bass reigned as tight guitars blared from my speakers. "Boy was I wrong", is all I could think. I did an interview with Mindrage for the simple reason that they are Christian, I hadn't even heard their music. Now, I look at Mindrage in a whole new light. Before the day was over, I visited the Mindrage homepage and made my own j-card for the tape. It was a pain because I had never done anything like it before but boy was it worth it. The drumming is incredible on this demo. Imagine Lance Garvin playing wild drums with some guitar riffs thrown in by Training for Utopia and vocals like that of Erase and you've got a pretty good idea of Mindrage's sound. Absolutely killer stuff. I can't wait for their cd on Rescue Records. I can't imagine why a more popular label such as Solid State didn't snatch these guys up. They are definitely Solid State material. Mindrage will fit nicely next to Living Sacrifice in your cd case. All in all, everyone who I've played this tape for has totally liked it and I more than got my five dollar's worth. No questioning Mindrage's focus on Christ as well. Take the following lyrics from "Destructive Patterns".

Greater is He that lives in you
Than the world that had him crucified
(major double bass blast beats right here in the song)
Destructive Patterns, out of your hopeless mind
Seek God the Father and leave your past behind

Get this demo, get this demo, get this demo. That's all I have to say.
