The always captivating death metal demo!

Most of the material here can actually be split into one of two categories -- the first is pretty much thrash with death vocals, most of which is decent but generally unremarkable. The other half is TOTAL death/grind bliss that I just can't get enough of. Think Armageddon Holocaust playing death metal with a live drummer. All right, maybe not that extreme, but you get the picture. Lots of blasts and hyper-riffing, and I'm loving it! Finish up with a slower tune written around an Obituary-ish start/stop riff that works pretty well, and the music is definitely worth your time.

Here's where it does get just a shade touchy -- this was recorded on a 4-track, and all done by the same person. Now it sounds pretty stinkin' good for a 4-track, and the guitars and vocals are great. The drums are decent most of the time too, but there are a couple moments that remind you that it's a guy playing drums rather than a drummer, if you understand.

The lyrics, as the music, are worth hearing. You could guess where "Psalm 57" is coming from, but would you guess it's King James? And "Fatal" is built around the concept of sin being "pleasing to the eyes, pleasing to the mind, pleasing to the senses, fatal to the soul". Good stuff!

What this ends up being is a good demo that could be a very good indie release with just a little spit and shine. Think Inversion Tarsus Burning and you're on the right track, every indication is that Transfigural Form is following the Inversion fast track toward death metal heavy-hitters.
