Indianola Records has made quite a few leaps in recent years with a lot of great releases by a lot of great bands (Evergreen Terrace, xOne Fifthx, Casey Jones, This Runs Through and Sleeping By The Riverside all come to mind). Odd Project's The Second Hand Stopped won't be held in such high esteem. The record is standard fare sing/scream and doesn't really variate from this formula. This isn't to say that they don't write solid songs though; the breakdowns in The Fashion Police Hate Robots are enough to induce dancing by all of the Diesel wearing hardcore boys who never really passed karate class in their younger years. They even throw in Iron Maiden influenced guitar solos ala metalcore acts like Atreyu throughout the record. Musically, this band is an extremely tight unit - it just gets a bit boring at times. But as a guy just listening to a CD, this is pretty good.
