A rap veteran steps to the plate, rubs his bat, looks in the pitcher's eye, catches the flight of the wicked slider, swings, and crack! Is it a hit or a strike? I'll give this one more of an in the field home run, than a genuine knock it out of the park. At the end of the day though, the run still counts, if you know what I mean. Talk about calling out the big boys! Gotee sirens Out of Eden, Tengo-N-Kash, F.T.F., Pooh, Keli-Kel, C-Boi, Mr. Real, and my arch enemy M.C. Hammer (Just kidding. Wonder if he remembers me from my Vanilla Ice days. If he does, I wonder if he remembers his bodyguard, House, about to whup our whole crew.), all make an appearance to sweeten an already sweet project (*is that too many sweets when talking about Gangsta rap?). This LP is more smoothed out than recent efforts. I don't know if this is to get some commercial success, or a reflection of his getting older and wiser. Whatever it is, it works. I foresee radio jumping all over this piece. The signature flow rides along next to a much improved sound. The message is clear and straight forward, but hints more at a "let me help you feel," compared to a "you shall burn in hell" approach. Prime definitely went back into his formula and added some more chemicals. To those who want their rap on fire, there is definitely no ICE in this drink!
