This release is a collection of b-sides, rarities, re-recordings and also a compilation of the "best" Stavesacre songs to date. The album has been released via Tooth and Nail Records.
I was extremely excited to get this cd from the first day I heard it was being made, but that excitement turned into a slight disappointment after listening to it. This is Stavesacre's "best of and rarities" album, but I was expecting to hear more rarities with a few old classics thrown in for good measure. Instead, this album includes a few songs from each of their previous albums, along with a brand new track and a cover.
Now don't get me wrong, I love Stavesacre and every song on this album, but I was expecting more new material and previously unreleased songs to be included. The best part on this album is the three songs they re-recorded from their last album Speakeasy. They made them into completely different songs, adding different layers and effects changing the whole mood of the original songs. The songs are great, but I was just expecting something more and something new.
If you are a real Stavesacre fan it would be worth getting this album just for those songs, and to hear the new material (as lacking as it may be). This is also a good album to start your Stavesacre collection with if you have never gotten into them before, as it highlights some of the best songs from their previous albums. The songs are great, but I was just expecting something more and something new.
