This is the ultimate Alarm album. Past efforts have had great songs on it, plus duds...and usually all the hits are placed one after another at the start of the album. This one has consistent hits all through the album. I don't get bored halfway through this time. The first single, "Sold Me Down the River", is an all-out rocker. A bluesy lament about betrayal. "The Rock" is an interesting tune about Someone Who can be trusted: "The Rock will never let you down/ The Rock will never fall or tumble to the ground." "How the Mighty Fall" seems to give another angle of the failures of Bakker and Swaggart. "Once your words were the first and last on the subject/ Now they hang like a noose around your neck/ Once you held the light that could be seen from near and far/ Now you fall and stumble in the dark...Now they talk about your fall from grace."
