
"Before an artist attempts abstract, an old teacher of mine once said, "they must first master the classics. Then they will know the boundaries which they are coloring outside of." The lads that make up The Elevator Division sound like they've done their homework. Granted, they aren't painting that far outside the lines, so to speak, but they are venturing out into what sounds like a comfortable fit for them. Beautiful, slick pop with just a tad of the elementary principles of emo pop. Tell Jimmy Eat World to stuff it.
