With obvious influences from bands like Blink 182 and The Huntingtons, it would be very easy to simply dismiss The John Stamos Project as just another contender in the ever growing (and often generic) glut of pop punk bands that have made themselves so prevalent in the past decade. With their album "Take Your Best Shot" (Reinforcement Records), the band serves up track after track of potty mouth humour that's equally appealing to both TRL speed dialers and fans of Screeching Weasel alike.
"An Ode To Billy Joel" is a deathwish to the Piano Man himself while "I Miss U (niversity)" is a lament that models itself from subject matter like many pop punk bands before them, dealing with love gone off to college while they stay behind and live the life of a Grade-A slacker. Most of the music is hit and miss in many ways since it sounds like just about everything else these days.
Fans of Fenix TX, Blink 182 and many of those ever so popular Drive-Thru Records bands will find enjoyable territory with The John Stamos Project.
