The Silver Anniversary Project, from Maranatha! Music, covers 25 years (1971-1996) of this label's music with 25 songs. Some of the songs have become standards in praise and worship, while others are new to the scene, but are quickly becoming as popular. There are many of my favorite praise and worship songs included in this album. I found it very difficult to just sit back and listen as I reviewed this project, but continually found myself joining in with The Maranatha Singers in glorifying our risen Lord!
The songs are presented as a medley, with one blending beautifully into the next. For me this adds to the enjoyment of the songs and greatly enriches the worship experience. The background support of the instrumentalists is directed with balance, integrity, and a subtlety that allows the beauty of the words to be lifted up with a sound that, to these earthly ears, is angelic. The touch of these masterful musicians is so controlled that it comes across as a skillful and mighty sound that blends with the vocalists' message and enhances the splendor of the song.
The Silver Anniversary Project includes many all-time favorites, such as "As We Gather," "Every Time That We Are Gathered," "We Declare Your Majesty," "Lord, I Lift Your Name On High," and "All Honour." A variety of soloists are used throughout this project adding to the richness and uniqueness of the album's sound.
