Punk rock has long held the reputation of having simple 3-chord guitar riffs, and The Temper Tantrums definitely oblige those pre-conceived notions well with their debut album Throw a Fit. There isn't a great deal of technical instrumentation on this album, nor is there an abundance of profound lyrical content. This all-girl trio may keep it a bit too simple for some of you, like on songs such as "Acapulco" — "Van broke down half way there / and my Mom's really ticked / We forgot to check the oil / and now we're going to miss our show / So we grabbed our skateboards / and headed for the beach / realized as I'm flying through the air / that skateboards don't work well on sand." This album is clearly geared towards a younger audience, however after hearing their new album, you must admit they are a high energy group that will be able to convey a positive message to their listeners.
