Finally! I have always wanted a compilation just like this one. It has been a dream of mine to have a hardcore compilation with nothing but great bands on it. This cd has 16 tracks on it, all by different bands. If you like any hardcore band, I guarantee that you will find something on this cd you like. Overcome has never been a favorite of mine but I think their song on this cd made a believer out of me. Disciple pumps out yet another incredible song. My favorite of theirs to date. Spitfire has never really impressed me either. Yet their song on this cd is mighty impressive. While I'm going through all these songs, I guess I'll just list out the tracks for you. They will be followed by a brief review of that song. Here goes...
1. Eso-Charis - Born With a Future, undoubtedly a heavy song, hardcore at it
its best
2. Shockwave - Buzzsaw, I've heard better from Shockwave
3. Within - Until the End, Not bad but not my favorite
4. Phanatik - Forgiveness, ok, so most of the bands on the cd are good
5. Seasons in the Field - Eternity, scary stuff, check them out
6. Callous - Only By Grace, great musical openings but the sung parts need
help
7. Spitfire - Shadows of Forsaken Promises, heavy stuff, can't wait to hear
more from them if its anything like this song
8. Society's Finest - Swept Away, the first I'd heard from this band,
innovative and good, I'll keep a lookout for more from them
9. Pensive - Spiritfall, probably my favorite Pensive song
10. Travail - Weakling, heavy, along the lines of Limp Bizkit and Korn
11. Through and Through - Through Infinite Darkness, if you can make it
through the pretty lame beginning, this song gets pretty rad
12. Terra Firma - Defiled Altar, the first I'd heard from them also, takes a
little getting used but its good once you do
13. xDisciplex - Two Faced, awesome but what else would you expect from
them
14. Ashfall - Desire of Hate, decent, if they get better with time they might
make a name for themselves
15. Fed By Ravens - Fewer Masks Than Most, oh yeah, good stuff here, really
melodic and evil sounding
16. Overcome - Conversion, like I said, my favorite song from Overcome,
hopefully they'll keep putting out stuff that sounds like this
Well there it is. This is a great cd if you want to check out some of the new and upcoming bands in the scene. Also great if you're tired of the same old tooth and nail stuff. I love Solid State but this was a good break from them.
8.5/10
