This collection in the Hot Metal series was the last one. Coming out in late 1993, the compilation seemed to also signal the beginning of the end for one of Christian metal's pioneering metal labels, Intense Records. Hot Metal V (subtitled "Screaming Truth"), the cover sporting a picture of Eric Clayton sans his famous make-up "screaming truth", is actually easier to find than some of the previous entries (anything before the third one you'd have a better chance turning lead into gold than finding). There's better diversity on this one, gleaning cuts from old label veterans Deliverance ("Words To The...") and Tourniquet ("Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance"), relative newcomers at the time Rose ("Hide"), Die Happy ("Eden"), Mortification ("Distarnish Priest") and Mortal ("Above And Beyond"), and probably the first ever appearance of Saviour Machine ("Carnival Of Souls"). Included on the disc are interviews with Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine, Randy Rose of Rose, Steve Rowe of Mortification, Jerome and Jyro of Mortal and Guy Lenaire of Tourniquet. Throw in the discography list for the bands within the liner notes and you've got yourself a nifty little starter set for exploring the more innovative bands to come out of the early-to-mid nineties.
