Let me put it bluntly: There are 27 tracks here. Of those tracks, eight did not make me fantasize about gnawing my arms off. Two of those eight were actually good songs worth hearing. For any compilation that is not a good ratio of good to crap.

Indeed, it is actually shocking that the music on this label compilation is as bad to listen to as it is. If you would take away the songs, everything else about the Sounds of Subterrania label is top-notch. The packaging is very tasteful and intellectually eye pleasing. The same can be said of their elegant webpage. Even their bands have cool names. El Guapo Stuntteam. Ryogun Rend's. King Khan & His Shrines. Lightning Beatman.

Its punk, its rock, its rockabilly, and it is just not fun to listen to. If you love (not just like!) older sounding punk rock it may be worth wading through this compilation to find the jewels to your ears. But for must of us, the agony just won't pay off.
