Mother & Child is an album of contemporary holiday music by various performers that focuses on the relationship between Mary and Jesus. There is something here for everyone, as so many different styles are represented in this seasonal collection. Executive producer Tena Clark has combined the likes of Amy Grant singing the hauntingly beautiful "Breath Of Heaven" (also known as "Mary's Song") with CeCe Winans' "All is Well Tonight." One of my favorites is Vesta Williams singing "Bless This Child" (probably because we have a new baby niece). The unique harmony of Sierra sounds forth in "Sweet Baby Jesus" and Martina McBride's "Oh Holy Night" is one more of the many lovely versions of that classic. Beth Nielsen Chapman does a very reverent rendition of "Ave Maria." Other songs and artists featured on this album are "That's Not Why We're Here" (Kim Hill), "When You Believe" (Shanice & Crystal Wilson), "Christmas Time" (Wendy Moten), and "Through Your Eyes" (Suzy Bogguss).

I think that the idea behind this collection and the music chosen is very imaginative-it's not your average Christmas album. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to ponder over the meaning of a song, or who likes to really appreciate the season for what it is. It's a great record to add to your holiday listening pleasures.

This project is a very pleasant blending of new talents with known talents, and the blending of new and traditional songs we…
