The title of this one should pretty much summarize what you might find. Popular groups have come together to record acoustic versions of their songs. There are big names such as Thrice, Finch, Thursday, The Starting Line, and The Ataris etc. In all there are 20 tracks and also a bonus split CD sampler from Fearless and Victory Records.
The big surprise for me is just how bad the majority of these tracks are from bands of such high stature. Even the bands that admittedly I am a fan of really didn't produce on this. Why is it? I don't know that I'm sure, but I know it's a lot harder to hide flaws and mistakes acoustically. But even still, it's hard for me to believe that labels would allow their bands to showcase themselves so poorly. Vocals that are off key and flat are fairly standard for each selection. The one overwhelming exception is the song by Trustkill's Open Hand. Wow. "Time to Talk" is in a whole different league when compared to the other songs on the album. I haven't stopped listening to it since I got this. But is one song worth buying the whole album? Probably not, but you'd be cheating yourself if you didn't listen to "Time to Talk." If I was rating just this song it would get a full 4 stars, but because unfortunately it comes as part of the package deal, the result is less than stellar.
