This is a pretty good comp for any fans of the death/black type stuff. 17 tracks of nothing but brutality!!! Feast Eternal starts things off right with a track from their debut album, and if you (like me) are lame and still don't have it, this will bump it right up to the top of your "get now" list. There are a couple tracks that have that effect, actually, when you add on a song from Vaakevandring's demo and one of the better tunes from the Antidemon cd. Conversely, however, there are also a couple new tracks from established bands that you can't (yet, anyway) find anywhere else. Included -- the reason I bought this -- NEW CRIMSON THORN!!! The rumors of some black influence in their newer stuff ARE true... but you don't hear it on this song, a great grinding behemoth that sounds exactly like the band we've come to love. Also, GRIM fans will get an instrumental to check out that's not on Sceptre of Blood. This disc also scores on the front of new bands, though. Tortured Conscience has created a pretty good buzz, and if their song's any indication, it'll be well worth the wait when they get an album out. The pleasant surprise award goes to Clemency, a SMOKIN' death metal band from Brazil that I'd never heard of, but this song goes toe to toe with Crimson Thorn and gives 'em all they can handle. Brutal and technical, this may well be the best song on the whole disc. Honorable mention to Getsemai, though, who shows up with a very nice melodic black metal song that reminds me of Fatal Embrace.
Like all comps, there are some pretty down moments -- some tracks have terrible production (there's even 1 live track), and some bands just plain need big time help before they're ready. There's plenty of good on this to go around, though. Highly recommended!

Art for the Ears 2001Reviewed by Marco PovervestA short note about each band. Feast Eternal - Double bass overdosed deathmetal. Not bad though; Israel - Quality-wise poorly recorded death metal with soaring growls and occasional hisses; Maximum Pentacost - Brazilian death metal. Nice intro and at times interesting; Goredeath - Weird combination of harsh gnarling and repetitious singing; Quejidos Del Seol - Death metal from Panama with Spanish…
Dead Zine 2000Reviewed by D_ListerRight, well no death metal comp can go too wrong when track one starts off with Feast Eternal right? Well we've all got our own copies of Prison of Flesh so hearing a track from there's not a big hit. However if you don't have their CD this is the tease that will ensure you get it. From there Screams of Abaddon starts to head down hill, mostly production wise. Many bands on this comp were bands I…
