As if the Texas scene wasn't booming with bands, now we have DIY label Quietboy Recordings. The first release is the $5.00 CD consisting of 15 bands, most of which come from Texas.
The majority of the bands on this CD are punk bands, so if you're looking to check out some of the new punk on the scene here is a good and cheap way to hear a few bands.
Standouts on this CD are certainly The Vigilantes (now having changed their name to Kaosu) who have a very fast grinding song that does have heavy hardcore overtones as well. True to the crustcore vein, this track is only about 30 seconds long, but it's a very cool heavy scary song.
As far as punkish music goes, APB and Maintenance Man had some good efforts here as well.
Of the punk bands most of them are new school, which is really hard for me to review. I don't really care for new school punk, old school is ok, but new school kind of bugs me when I listen to it. So yes the rating does reflect this somewhat, and if you are into new school bands, this may be for you.
Quality wise the tracks vary from band to band, but overall is good but not outstanding. Never-the-less here is a five buck CD that is packed with music and if you're looking for new music you may want to check it out.

They just like to play. Well, it's commendable of Cleetus Adrian and Quietboy Recordings to put this out, and to do it for only five bucks for the consumer. Featured are bands like the constantly touring Maintenance…
