With the release of West to East For The Music Lovers, the guys at Bandoppler have done something I've never seen done in the Christian market – they have provided us with a wonderful representation of the true Christian Music Underground. There is no corporate spit-shine, commercial radio hits or shameless self-promotion here, just great music that Bandoppler thinks you should hear.
The best way for me to explain this CD is for you to close your eyes and use your imagination. Imagine you're going to a club, not some preppy hip-hop club, but an underground club in the old part of town. You walk into the somewhat run-down club full of some of the coolest and strangest looking people you've seen in years, and as you enter…the show begins. For the next 70 minutes, your ears are treated to some of the best new indie, underground and hardcore music you've heard in a long time. It's intense, rough around the edges, and very cool.
Highlights of the CD include Static with their song "Mirror Ball". Then there's Prosper with their intense, yet catchy, guitar driven song "Longrun". Towhead's punk song "PH. D" also stuck out as a favorite.
But really…I have a hard time putting all the songs on this disc into categories and explaining them. If you want to experience some cool new bands, and you're not afraid to check out the underground to find them, this CD is for you! After all, you don't even need to search for the bands, the folks at Bandoppler have already done it for you.
