Veggietales is a marvelous creation. Not only do they provide a unique learning experience about Biblical stories and morals, but they do it in such a way that kids and parents alike can enjoy the videos. In the middle of each Veggie video, there is a brief intermission for a "silly song" music video. Various vegetables such as Larry the cucumber and Bob the tomato are the stars in The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown, a compilation video of the ten best silly songs ever made in the history of Veggietales.

Fans of the show voted for their favorite silly songs to include in this video. The result is a funny compilation of the classics that fans have enjoyed over the years. The songs, although sung in the wacky voices of the characters, are surprisingly catchy and fun. They will leave you wanting to watch it more and sing along, no matter what age - it's great for clean family fun.

The song selection is good, my only quibble here is that they did not include the "Rumorweed" song, despite its unorthodox nature as a duet with the late Christian swing band, the W's. The song ranked at #10, "Barbara Manatee" is one of the weaker tunes, but ends surprisingly with a strong message. As the video moves on, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything prove to be good hosts for the countdown event, and add more character to the video. There would be something missing if it simply moved from song to song without intermissions occasionally.

More and more favorites pop up such as "I Love My Lips," "His Cheeseburger," and "The Song of the Cebu." The DVD also comes with some excellent bonus features, including interviews with the VeggieTales creators, behind the scenes information, and hidden Easter eggs, including a Japanese version of "The Hairbrush Song." The creators of this Countdown made the DVD very worthwhile, and anyone with DVD capability will definitely want to spring for the DVD instead of the VHS.

When you come right down to it, whether you have never experienced Veggietales before, or are a big fan, The Ultimate Silly Song video is one to check out. It has the best silly songs that can always cheer you up or give you a good laugh, young or old.
