The younger brother of the Bride sails in previously charted waters here--the sweaty 'n' bruised Hard Rock that their fellow Louisville-ians have been expressing their kinetic faith with. Its loose and sassy approach creates a wide musical sound that hits you in the face. You'll hear some imperfections on this demo in the sonics and vocal department, yet the genuine Hard Rock vibe comes all the more alive. Of special note is the prominent bass lines written into all the songs, which are performed well also. "Educate Me" is a biting rocker with a pleading message from a troubled kid who observes where much of the money in society is going. "Sin City" features some cool double bass action in the choruses, while lamenting over people who "sell their soul for one night." "Freedom" features some good lyrics and some rapid-fire vocal delivery. This song would sound great after an expensive mix. Simple tricks like fading the vocals between left and right channels would really dress it up. Overall, I'd give White Ray an "A" for attitude and a "B" for performance.
