Is Weezer's Rivers Cuomo venturing into emo? Quite possibly, being that I know zilch about Beezewax's past. Beezewax isn't emo's version of Weezer but it somehow reminds me of that. Possibly it is the quasi-catchy (is that a word?) melodies that only a whining, dark song can achieve. The music gets your toe tapping until the Rivers Cuomo imposture starts to sing. This is not a cut, but lets face it, emo doesn't make you hop up on a table and get jiggy wit it. All in all, I liked it. I am actually considering buying the CD (which is a compliment b/c I am excessively cheap). "South of Boredom" achieves strong knit songs with meaningful words and cool rhythms - the formula for a good album.
