I never really know exactly how to review this kind of music. What I definitely know is that I dig this older Zao stuff more, or actually just the older Zao singer. Musically the newer Zao stuff is better. Like their other re-release this is a definite purchase for any Zao fans. You must be happy that Steadfast Records is putting out this older Zao stuff. As far as Outcast goes I think they pretty much broke up shortly after this split originally came out. So unfortunately even if you do like them you won't be able to see them. It's pretty much your typical hardcore of 5 years ago. So if you are a hardcore fan you will probably like it, if you're not a fan then you probably won't. Nothing really made them stand apart from the other hardcore bands of 5 years ago. But even listening to these early Zao recordings, you could tell they had something going on.

HM Magazine #82Reviewed by David M. PoggeYes, that's right, this new release from Steadfast Records features two cuts from your favorite hardcore band in Christendom. Or does it? Sure the name is the same, but the only member that is the same here is drummer, Jesse Smith. What we have here is a re-release of a 1995 split EP with Outcast. Who knows? Maybe this is the band's original lineup. This CD is quite a far reach from Liberate...,…Decapolis 2000Reviewed by ConradZao for some reason has always been a good hardcore metal band. As someone who isn't into their genre, I appreciate what they put out. Outcast is fairly good also. Not quite as good as Zao, but can still hold their own. This is one of those EPs you might want to check out especially if you like Zao. Zao B-; Outcast C+ B-Similar sounding releases
