In the latest readers' poll of the fanzine HEAVEN'S METAL, "Detonation" is ranked no. 1, BLOODGOOD's show is no. 1, the band's vocalist is ranked no. 2, the bassist no. 1, the guitarist no. 3 and the drummer no. 2... That already gives you an idea of the standing of BLOODGOOD, who are considered today to be one of the best representatives of the WM movement. And "Detonation" is there to demonstrate it. The ten tracks on this second LP prove that BLOODGOOD deserves the honours of being no. 2 of WM. Side one is introduced by a fairly thrash track ("Battle Of The Flesh"); Les Carlsen's vocals are a little raspy but powerful, and well placed. The guitarist is fast and the bassist does an excellent job indeed. David Zaffiro demonstrates a great deal of his capacities in "Vagrant People", which is, what is more, one of his own compositions. On the subject of compositions, in fact, everyone takes part, which means the album is very varied while remaining in BLOODGOOD's particular style and sound. It is in "Self Destruction" that Mark Welling gives the most on the drums. The two tracks "Alone In Suicide" and "Heartbeat Of The City" have more of a lyrical interest (one tackles suicide and the other prostitution). As for side two, it is in fact the "concept part" of the album, with as an intro "Eat The Flesh", with a Gregorian-style chorus. Then "Holy Fire"... "Saved by His blood, transformed by His Word..." Excellent bass work. "Crucify" is a very heavy/thrash track: it is about the trial of Jesus before Pilate. Impressive. The track runs straight into "The Messiah", a semi-slow that speaks of the descent from the cross, of the burial and of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. "The Messiah" cannot leave anyone indifferent: it is one of those WM tracks that get you right there, in the guts. And the album ends with the victory and the track "Live Wire", to the glory of the One who conquered death by the resurrection: Jesus Christ. When one knows that BLOODGOOD's show is considered to be the best and that they re-enact the crucifixion of Jesus on stage (during "Crucify" and "The messiah"), "Detonation" must have a quite different impact when BLOODGOOD is on stage...! To be discovered urgently!!

Dead Zine 2003Reviewed by NecRoSarXBloodgood's second album, released in 1987. This one's a bit harder than their first, expounding on the pre-thrash metal that was touched on previously, the likes of which Helloween, Grim Reaper, Mercyful Fate and King Diamond built their careers on. Lotsa Bloodgood classics here: "Battle Of The Flesh", "Self-Destruction", "Alone In Suicide", "Eat The Flesh", "Holy Fire", and the epic "Crucify"…
HM Magazine #90Reviewed by Doug Van PeltStorming out of an area not yet known as a thriving music mecca (Seattle), this heavy metal band quickly made its professional imprint on a scene that was full of wannabes like Messiah Prophet, Philadelphia, Valor, Rosanna's Raiders, Force 3, Golgatha, and a slew of others. Sure, those bands were okay, for Christians, but if you wanted to impress someone on musical talent alone, you'd better…
Heaven's Metal #12Reviewed by Doug Van PeltDetonation by Bloodgood is the best album in Christian metal. Anybody wanna argue? I doubt it. This album is so good...Ow! It smokes!! The highlights are probably: the vocals; the guitar; the drumming; the bass; the songwriting; and the lyrics. I think you get the picture: this album does not fall short in any category. This album literally breathes with power. The production on this album shows…Similar sounding releases
