Che Arthur has a good deal of experience working in the music industry. He's been performing and recording with Chicago-based Atombombpocketknife since early 2000, and he's spent much of the last few years as a touring sound engineer with such well respected indie rock bands as Jets to Brazil, The Promise Ring, Cursive, Thursday, and The Black Heart Procession. Unfortunately, all of this labor has produced very little fruit.
On his debut full-length solo album, Arthur packs his songs to the brim with heartfelt emotion and heart-on-his-sleeve lyrics, but that's about it. There is not a single memorable track on All of Your Tomorrows Were Decided Today. Not one hook or sing-along melody. Absolutely nothing that would make the average listener want to put this CD in again after they've already heard it through once.
At its very best it comes off sounding painfully mediocre. But don't worry kids. There is hope. Arthur actually has a pretty decent voice. He just needs to stop hitting certain notes. He's also a fairly talented guitar and bass player. He just needs to start hitting certain notes. Someday Che Arthur will make an impressive album, but this is not it.
