this is a collection of demos from 1998, when damien was just starting with his solo material. the first few songs are actually not too good, and pretty sloppy. towards the end of side one it starts to get better, though--particularly the 1980s sounding "1988--remove the past". side two is more consistent, with less instrumentation and more experimentation. while none of the material on here is as good as damien's albums, it's an interesting look into the formation of his songwriting style. for the most part it's much more lighthearted than his recent stuff, but there are still some darker elements here and there. this is limited to a few hundred copies, so get it quick if you're a completeist like me.
