apparently screeching weasel is the latest band to defect from the ranks at lookout. good for them. asian man is now reissuing their catalog, at lower prices! i'm one of those rare folks that never cared for this band. i guess they were ok, and this album is at least faster and more fun then most of their other stuff i've heard. i still don't see what the big deal is, though. the music is kind of a mixture of 80s hardcore and pop-punk, and the lyrics are goofy and obviously written by people in their late teen/early 20s. there are lots of liner notes (including revisionist history. 7 seconds were playing posi-core in 1988? bands weren't melodic in the late 80s? sweet baby, anyone? crimpshrine? all? chicago's own group of individuals [who's universal satirical association zine was the first place i ever heard of screeching weasel, by the way]?) and illegible fliers and stuff. bleh. at least there's a song called "i hate led zeppelin"...
