Here is a four song demo tape from a band out of North Carolina that is a force to be reckoned with. Formerly Antithesis this band has moved more into a serious metalcore vein of music these days and is certainly doing a mind numbing job at it.
Destruction is the first song, and it RIPS off this tape setting the mood for what's to come. Full on metalcore with the spirit of God. This song screams of the glory of having been washed new by the blood of Christ. The song starts fast and then towards the end builds even faster to pound out the last line, "Life is all I know!" This is a great song.
Striving To Exceed is another example of this band's ability to shred the hardcore. This song has a really mellow breakdown in the middle that allows you to get lost for a moment just before they tear it up again.
The amazing fourth song, Feeding Off Of deals with the issue of pornography, something all us internet users know too well as it is. Face Of Humanity calls it "Perversion kept alive" while the "Industry thrives, containing no truth and feeding off of you."
Every song on this tape is lyrically fantastic. These songs manage to create the certain fractured feel that hardcore takes on while at the same time they do not leave much to interpretation. You know exactly where these guys stand in their walk with God.
Production quality is a little low on this tape. You can hear some background noise in several places but this tape is very listenable. I've been listening to it a lot, and not just to review it, but rather because it's really good music that I've been enjoying. Man I hope these guys manage to play a show in Georgia sometime.
The insert is Xeroxed, but the cover picture is so killer. It shows a large crowd all bunched together to where you can only see the skeletal faces of first few people. Considering the name "Face Of Humanity" this shows how dead society is. Really cool.
I don't know what this tape will cost you but I think if you sent the band $4.00 or $5.00 they'd probably ship a copy out to you, and it'd be $4.00 or $5.00 WELL SPENT. This is fast, blistering, and intense music with a couple of nice mellow breakdowns. There is a LOT of talent in this band.
8/10
