"Everynight Fire Works" is the first full length release for Milwaukee based band, Hey Mercedes and their first release on Vagrant. Look for them on the upcoming Vagrant America 2 tour.

Ok let's get the Braid comparisons out of the way. Yes, hey mercedes is 3/4ths of Braid. No Chris Broach does not scream "yeah" all over the album. Yes, Hey Mercedes rocks. The major difference is that this new incarnation rocks in a more straight forward manner and the guitars are turned up a notch. That's not to say that this disc doesn't have its slightly complex rhythms. If forced to categorize this I would call it really catchy and driving rock. And of course the recording sounds superb because it was blessed by the production genius of J. Robbins. I really like it when albums are mixed with the different guitars panned hard right and hard left. This is what you have here, and it makes the different guitar parts really stand out. Take a listen to this album with headphones to really get this effect. Some people might complain that a lot of the songs sound the same but really this is a great collection of catchy rock songs with some memorable hooks. Bob Nanna's vocals seem to improve every recording and deliver some fine melodies. "Everynight Fire Works" is good driving music, you'll find yourself singing along and beating the steering wheel to death within just a few listens. And if I hear one more person complain about how "Braid was so much better, Hey Mercedes sucks" I think I will actually hurt someone. Braid is gone. Get over it. Pick up the new Hey Mercedes full length and their ep if you haven't already and rock out.
