No it's not the infamous H.O.R.D.E. festival fronted by the alterna-elite, it's the full effect unblack metal sounds by some guy in Australia. That's right all instruments are one dude, and his name is Anonymous (for real) and with music this anti-black I agree with not putting your name on it. It's also a bag on the old Euronymous of satanic black metal fame that committed suicide awhile back. (Ed Note: I was informed by an astute reader that Euronymous was in fact murdered by Count Grischnack of Burzum. The confusion may have been coming from the suicide of former Mayhem singer, Dead. Thanks to [email protected] for this information.
The sounds are complete opposite of the direction we're used to heavy stuff going. The guitars are gritty and high and tuned to E (a strange thing these days eh?). I sometimes turn my lows on my amp and distortion pedal all the way down and the mids and highs all the way up to get this annoying guitar sound. Reminds me of some Ministry. Now for some reason this guitar sound fully works here. Everything is higher, the drums are not FULL like on most albums lately and neither is the bass. The vocals are very gritty and high growling. But it all melds together so well that it makes the album sound really good. Some songs are just blast beats to me but there are a good number of tracks that really work and groove which makes it work.
With songs like "Crush the Bloodied Horns of the Goat", "Drink from the Chalice of Blood", and "Silence the Blasphemous Chanting" this album truly has down the "metal" song names . The lyrics in each of the songs are so anti-black it's really awesome to see such a bold stance in a music scene completely dominated by the fool.
Invert the Inverted Cross has some good lyrics,
The Cross of Christ turned upside down symbol of His supposed defeat those in darkness rejoice in this, but the Truth is revealed to the Chosen
Christ stormed the gates of hell to take the keys thereof Now the keys of death and hades belong to the Eternal One
It is really a ground breaking album for the Christian metal scene. So if you're interested in this kind of music or want something new and different check it out.
(Ed. note: This album is not a recently released item. It's been out for years, and is in fact out of print. If you contact Nuclear Blast do not send any money because they don't have any. But maybe if they got enough requests they'd reprint it. Also when this album was first released on Nuclear Blast, some of the higher ups there received death threats by some of the satanic bands on the label, if they allowed this album to be released. Well it was released alright, and it's an amazing album! It will be hard to find, and when you do your going to have to pay a PREMIUM price for it. Still it's quite an amazing album. --D_Lister)

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by NecRoSarXBoy, I love typing out this CD's title on my PC. It drives the auto-spell check nuts. Ladies and gentlemen, behold the first truly unblack metal CD to grace both the secular and Christian metal scenes. Sure, some would argue Vengeance Rising to be the first unblack metal band, but let's face it, Vengeance was more thrash oriented. Horde is one of the first stabs at European black metal, where the…
Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by SORGThis disc has been shrouded in more mystery and controversy than possibly any other Christian metal album in history. When this cd first appeared on the scene in 1994 the fact that it was done by one man calling himself Anonymous and was released as a direct retaliation against the Satanic black metal scene in Norway at the time, whose arguable leader Euronymous had been killed by fellow black…
Art for the Ears 2000Reviewed by Marco PovervestThis is a 1994 release that was reissued last year. This album caught some attention from extreme metal fans worldwide as it was the first black metal album with Christian lyrics that found its way into the secular market by distribution through Nuclear Blast. It has the same visual approach as other black metal releases with a capricious band-logo and a cover-picture of a graveyard at night.…
Heaven's Metal #54Reviewed by Doug Van PeltHere is an interesting project. I still remember the first time I listened to it - in the back seat of a car parked at the Black Stump Festival in Australia. Anonymous, the vocalist and instigator of the entire project, explained to me the musical nuances and lyrical insights as curious people walked by the car wondering what this extreme noise was. As extreme metal goes, it will now have to look…Similar sounding releases
