Ronnie Martin "king of monosynth" is back with a new album filled with fresh, happy and electric melodies. Joy electric is the kind of band where you either hate or love their music and this album is no exeption. This isn't really my type of music but I can't help to love it. Robot Rock is just as great as the two previous full lengths, maybe even greater. You recognize alot from Ronnies earlier albums, like the catchy tunes, the sugarsweet and fairytale-like lyrics and the overall happy sound. One can almost see the sun, the clear-blue sky and butterflies as the cd spinns in your stereo. So, what is new? I think this album is a step closer to british pop of the 80's, and that the lyrics are a little bit more mature and Jesus centered. The melodies are also more variated, which I like. Track 6 "the robot beat" is my personal favourite. If you never heared of Joy electric, I can inform you that the music is kind of "blip blop". It reminds me of the sounds of the music on early Nintendo 8-bit games and R2D2 in Star Wars. It's mainly electro pop music. Finally I just want to say that Robot Rock makes me happy and to be nice to everyone. Well done Ronnie, you have just made a "4 out of 5 star"-album.
