Luti-Kriss is somewhat new to the Solid State roster and are from Georgia. They have toured all over the US and this release marks their debut.
"Throwing Myself" is Luti-Kriss's latest work. The album is different than most of the bands in the metal/hardcore genre in a lot of ways. Before seeing them live, I had heard little about them, but afterwards I knew I wanted to pick up a CD. Their live show is intensity times 10. While the album fails to fully capture what they are capable of on stage, it is no less impressive. The music is well thought out and creatively written. I hate to compare bands, but I guess if I was being forced to, I'd say they were a more artistic version of labelmates, Spitfire. There is a lot of screaming, a lot of thick guitars, and crazy drums, but in the midst of the chaos there is an underlining structure that a lot of scream-core bands are missing. Some of my favorite songs were "Light Blue Collar," "Black Smith," and "Petty Larson."
Both the recording and the lyrics have not been sacrificed in a rush to spit out a release. I was initially disappointed that "Throwing Myself" did not seem to capture the full explosiveness of the live performance, but is that actually possible? This is a good solid release that as far as I know has been overlooked. You'll definitely want to check these guys out live, and to prepare yourself, pick up a copy of the CD.
