My friend Scott (owner of Burnt Toast) has been telling me about this band for a while. Scott has a pretty good idea of the type of music I dig, and he sure was right. This is the first and only thing I have heard from Sans Culottes and I have to say I really really dig it. I guess they would be best described as indie rock with a pop feel. Kind of a melodic post-punk sound, a lot like Weston's new stuff, maybe a hint of the Get Up Kids. The first time I listened to this CD I thought of Weston right away. Most of the songs on this CD are catchy, full of melodies in both the vocals and the guitars. This CD was recorded by Nick Rotundo who was in one of Jade Tree Records first bands Walleye. Nick seems to be working with quite a few bands lately, and he always seems to do a great job with production. I have a feeling this is going to be one of those bands that really does well. Favorites of mine on this CD include, "Someday", "I'll Think of It Tonight", "This Is Our Last Love Song (about girls)", "0 and 12", "52 Card Pick-up", and "Only Now Do I Realize". All the songs on the CD are written well, and will have you singing along in a just a few listens. I really don't know what else to say about this CD, besides I really enjoyed it, and will look forward to finding out more about this band. I would go into more of a biography of the band but I don't know much about them myself, besides they rock!
