I would describe Secretion as mid-paced death metal. There aren't any blasts, but the guitars are tuned down and the vocals are loooow and completely incoherent. Unfortunately, the songs are all pretty unremarkable. Not much that you would say is terrible, but frankly not much that makes you want to listen either. To add, the production -- although not unlistenable -- is decidedly indie. At times the high-hat of all things seems to dominate the mix. It doesn't ruin anything, but doesn't do any favors either.
Lyrically these guys are absolutely all out for God, and I appreciate that a lot. From the title track: "Hear me Holy Jesus, Hear me I am calling out to you, Heal me Holy Jesus, Heal me let this love last, If I could look into your eyes when I am about to fail, Then I could stop from sinning, Pull from your hands the nail". All five songs here are equally and singularly dedicated to God/Jesus/Christianity, the only thing is I'm not sure why they made the effort to make them all rhyme when you can't understand a syllable, but whatever.
So this is death metal played for Jesus, and that's a beautiful thing. Musically, however, it sort of feels like death metal for death metal's sake, and I'd sooner recommend Soul Embraced, Inversion, Feast Eternal, Crimson Thorn, or the new Living Sacrifice tribute album for some quality tunes that also praise our God.
