This is one of Deep Elm Records best releases to date. Probably a bit more "punk" than most of the stuff that Deep Elm puts out, yet I think that is something that helps this band stand out from the rest. The CD starts out with a driving punk rock tune called, "So Soon". But even this song has enough diversity and breakdowns that it helps them stand out from many of your average punk bands. The vocals are clear and penetrating. The guitar work is good, and not the same old three power chords every song. This EP definitely has me anticipating their forthcoming full length that is due out on Deep Elm. For those of you who get tired of punk bands that only seem to sing about girls and their lousy relationships then Seven Storey Mountain may also appeal to you. This band definitely has quite a few things to say. Probably the most poppy, and one of the standout tracks on this EP is "Politician", "I'm just a politician, You know that we are all the same, practice lying in the mirror, buying 8 balls of cocaine, I've got some broke morals, that I'll pass across the land, need to criticize me, I'm just in it for the cash, when I'm re-elected, I'll do it all over again, got an in down at the court house, don't even need your votes to win.
This is the kind of stuff that many bands today are trying to do, but just can't seem to get it down. Seven Storey Mountain nails it down and throws it in your face. Expect to hear a lot about this band in the future. In the meantime go out and get this CD.
