The first thing that came to my mind with this new Squad Five-O album is that it's a fun album. It's one you can put in and just have fun to. It rocks, you can sing along, and it's got plenty of attitude. As most of you already know Squad Five-O has gone from ska-punk to punk-ska and now to glam rock. Sure the band and some of their fans seem to be calling it rock n roll, but in reality it's glam rock with a touch of punk. This album has all the attitude of the albums brought to us in the 80's by Poison, Motley Crue and Skid Row minus the technical skills. The production is pretty good, but the musical depth just isn't here. For this genre we should be seeing tons of metal solos, phenomenal drumming and vocals sung in very high keys. But instead we are left with slowed down punk rock songs with glam rocker attitude.
If you have seen them live lately you will most likely notice that the songs on the CD are much slower than when they play them live. Punk bands are known to do this, but on some of these songs the slow down seems almost too much.
So with "Bombs Over Broadway" it all comes down to what you're looking for. If you're looking for a CD to put in and just kind of have fun to, then this might be your ticket. If you're looking for a great glam rock album go pick up the albums put out by Skid Row, Gun's N Roses and Cinderella.
