This is one of the best and purest "hardcore" albums I've heard in a long while. Stretch Arm Strong is one of those unique bands that are able to have insanely intense and aggressive songs, and yet include amazing melodic breakdowns where you just want to sing out loud and let your voice be heard. You can hear and feel their passion through the music and lyrics as you listen to this album. I can tell they spent enormous amounts of time perfecting this record, because every part just seems so perfect. The vocals hit home every time I hear them. The aggressive screaming parts are just full with intense zeal and energy, and can't really be compared with any other release over the past couple of years. On the other end of the spectrum, the melodies just speak to you when you hear them.
"For The Record" is a beautiful song that has a great breakdown with group vocals that add so much to the song, this album is worth buying for this song alone. "Words Escape" was probably the biggest surprise to me. This is a song that is in the same vein of the new Grade material, with a nice mellow intro, and then it rips into the main part of the song with a "growling scream," and it keeps interchanging between this growl and Chris Mclane's superb natural voice. They end off with their cover of the Counting Crows' song, "Angels Of The Silences", which has appeared on an earlier 7" and is one of their best covers to date. Do not miss out on this album. It is a must buy!
