This music style never ceases to amaze me. Though this modern thrash with somewhat aggressive vocals is done by 1000 bands, there is always a band that feels being #1001 is necessary. I have to mention that I am reviewing a dub and I don't have a track list or lyric sheet so this is just an overview of the LP. I noticed a strong BELIEVER influence on the guitars, especially the first track. Track 2's vocals sound identical to Jonathan Davis from KORN when the vocalist is in the talking/singing segments of the song (You judge if that is a good thing.) The slow doomish breakdowns are the only parts I really got into, but they didn't last for very long. Fans of PANTERA, FEAR FACTORY (not the industrial side), new LIVING SACRIFICE, and especially BELIEVER guitar seekers should check this LP out. I was turned off by the abundance of stalls in tempo that became utterly redundant. The vocals are respectable aggressive thrash/mid death style and the guitars were tight. This LP is good for the particular style anyways. Overall the reason this release was not for me was the boredom I have with this music style. If this album came out 7 years ago I'm sure I would have loved it, but again, I have heard this stuff from way too many bands way too many times.

HM Magazine #75Reviewed by Doug Van PeltImagine the technical proficiency and tightness of Believer with the Godzilla-like hugeness of Sepultura. You have a brutally hard outfit that deserves the HM Mag red carpet treatment. These guys simply slay with their power grooves and sound. This album, Grievous Anguish, was originally intended to come out in 1996, but that label failed. Their new label has rescued this too-good-to-die album…Dead Zine 1998Reviewed by HadeSlayeRWhen I heard this I couldn't stop thinking of the similarity of the vocals to the secular Pantera. They possess the same throaty voice. But this band is more groovy than Pantera and their playing style is slower than the secular band. This album was recorded in 1996 but only released now; 2 years after the original recording. The CD starts with "Sanguis" - Well don't ask me what it means cuz I…
