The Culprits have been playing together since 1997 and have released this, their debut full length, on Death for Life Records.
The Culprits are an old school punk outfit whose raw energy punctuates this return to the basics. I have heard many bands describe themselves as old school to try and give meaning to the noise they tried to create, but the Culprits write good music with unique construction and plenty of their own personality. The lyrics are strong professions of their beliefs. Many bands ask for change in our society, The Culprits demand it as evidence with such song titles as "Time For Change," "Reform, Revolt," and "Deconstruction." Lines such as "...Republicans, Democrats, you thieving aristocrats..." make it obvious that they aren't happy with the status quo. My favorite songs included "Til the End," and "Amerikkkan Riot." There's a great cover of Minor Threat's "Seeing Red" and some kick butt cover art. The recording is good, and the whole package deal comes together for a good grade.
